Our Preschool ministry partners with parents in laying a spiritual foundation for preschoolers with the hope and prayer that they will accept Jesus into their hearts, and from that day continue to build a strong relationship with Him that will impact their life and the lives of others. With excitement and joy, we create a lasting impression of our heavenly Father on the hearts of children and their families.
We want every child, from newborn through kindergarten to…
Feel God’s love in everything we say and do.
Think of church as a special place with happy experiences.
Know that Jesus is a special friend who loves them.
Have good and positive feelings about themselves.
Feel safe and secure each time they are at church.
Feel unconditional love and acceptance.
Preschoolers are eager to learn, and from an early age it is important to lay a spiritual foundation so they will accept Jesus as their Savior. On Sunday mornings our purpose is to teach preschoolers about Jesus and His love through the Bible, which is told in simple and creative ways according to the child’s maturity, interests and needs. We teach with our own curriculum that begins in Genesis and goes through the entire Bible, using the Beginner’s Bible as a resource. We offer preschool classes during both service hours, which are 9:00 am and 10:30 am, so parents can attend one of our services and a Sunday School class of their own. The Bible story is taught twice to enforce the lesson of the day.
God has provided us with wonderful teachers who are committed to loving our children and teaching in creative and fun ways. Every Sunday children make a craft that goes along with the lesson and are sent home with a card that tells the Bible story for the day. The card is complete with questions parents can ask to reinforce the lesson during the week. A snack is served between the Sunday School hours for the two year olds through kindergarten, and toddlers will be given crackers or Cheerios. Babies will be given their bottles as instructed, but no solid food will be given. Please let us know of any food allergies.
Director of Preschool Ministry
Susan McClanahan joined Immanuel in 1968. She and her husband, Bill, have a daughter, Tracy, two sons, Steven and Michael, and seven grandchildren. As Director of Preschool Ministry, Susan ministers to preschoolers and their parents through relationships, programs and activities designed to reveal the love of Jesus and impact their lives for eternity. She is called to aid in laying a spiritual foundation in children’s hearts beginning in infancy so when they reach the age of accountability, they will accept Jesus into their lives. She aims to build relationships, love children as Jesus loves us, and exemplify Christ in all she does.
